Tilt and Turn Doors and Windows

Tilt-and-turn windows have a hinge mechanism that allows them to open in both directions. This type of window opens inwards like a casement window and can be tilted from the bottom so that the top portion of the pane is pulled open at a specific angle for ventilation. Tilt-and-turn windows are helpful because they can be opened slightly from the top without allowing an intruder to slip in because the space on top is limited.

How Do They Work?

When the handle is facing down, tilt-and-turn windows are securely fastened in place. These structures handle functions in two ways. When you turn the handle 180°, the top part tilts open inwards, revealing a small opening. When the handle is rotated 90 degrees, the entire pane swings open inwards.

Benefits Of Tilt And Turn

Energy Efficient

Because uPVC is a poor heat conductor, tilt-and-turn windows with uPVC frames provide excellent thermal comfort to your home all year. These frames are extremely tight and well-sealed. During the summer, this ensures that the cool conditioned air stays indoors and that the hot outside air does not seep inside your home. During the winter, cold air is unable to enter, while already warm air trapped inside is unable to leak outside. This increases the energy efficiency of your home while decreasing your electricity bills. If air is constantly leaking in and out due to sloppy frame construction, it will put an unnecessary strain on your heating and cooling systems.

Weather Resistant

uPVC tilt-and-turn windows retain their youthful appearance for many years and are resistant to corrosion and extreme weather temperatures. This is particularly useful if you live in hot and humid climates. These windows not only last a long time, but they also retain their colour and finish. uPVC is a very durable material that, when combined with the right type of glass, can last for decades.

Easy To Maintain

As a framing material, uPVC requires little to no maintenance. If you live near a particularly dusty street, you can clean your windows with a damp cloth and soapy water, or a mild detergent solution, once every three months. UPVC tilt-and-turn windows are a simple installation that will last for years. To keep its sheen month after month, simply open the top of this window before cleaning and wipe it from both sides.
